The increasing availability of health data is transforming the sector with stakeholders using data to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease, understand patient risk factors, see the spread of disease at the community level, and uncover health inequities. At the same time, complex questions are emerging around data privacy and the harms that can impact individuals and communities when using health data without adequate privacy safeguards. The onset of COVID-19 has drawn renewed attention to health data privacy. CODE has a variety of resources, solutions, and reports that discuss both the challenges and opportunities to better balance privacy and health data access.
