Institutional Review Board (IRB)

An IRB is an appropriately constituted group that has been formally designated to review and monitor biomedical research involving human subjects. An IRB has the authority to approve, require modifications in (to secure approval), or disapprove research. This group review serves an important role in the protection of the rights and welfare of human research subjects. – FDA

Interoperable

The ability for a dataset from one product or source to be completely functional with another dataset from a different product or source.

Limited Data Set

a data set where many important identifiers are removed – however, it is not a de-identified dataset and it is considered to be PHI.

Machine Learning

an application of AI that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it to learn and perform tasks for themselves.

Medicaid
